One of my favourite mindfulness meditation teachers is Tara Brach, who has been teaching mindfulness meditation and working as a psychologist for over 40 years. Her latest book, “Trusting the Gold,” has been a source of inspiration for me as a coach, providing valuable insights for both my personal life and when assisting others through private coaching sessions.
Tara’s inspiration behind her book’s title came from a clay Buddha statue in a Thai monastery. In 1757, monks covered the statue in clay to hide its value from the invading Burmese army. In 1957, during a monastery relocation, monks noticed a glimmer of gold shining through a crack in the clay. They then uncovered a solid gold Buddha beneath the clay, revealing hidden treasure.
This story illustrates that beneath our protective barriers lies untapped potential, waiting to be discovered. By delving beneath our surface actions and emotions, we can observe and understand the motivations that drive us into reactive patterns. This awareness enables us to manage stress more effectively and foster inner growth.
The path to freedom involves shedding outdated self-narratives and revealing our true essence beneath the protective layers. We often wear emotional armour unknowingly, shielding ourselves from past experiences and limiting beliefs. By peeling away these layers and embracing vulnerability, we can uncover our hidden strengths and capabilities.
Our bi-weekly sessions aim to guide you on a journey of self-discovery to unveil your inner gold. By cultivating self-awareness, you gain the tools to tap into your inner resources, leading to a life filled with joy, ease, and contentment.
