Your Escape Team

Carrie Guest

Carrie is a qualified Pilates Instructor, Sports Massage Therapist and holds a BSc Hons Degree in Sports Science & Biology. After completing a Diploma of Sports Massage in 2005 she worked in London with sports clients, before emigrating to Sydney in 2007.

Carrie first began attending Pilates classes in London to improve her strength and reduce her risk of injury working in a busy massage practice. Her love of Pilates grew from the positive effect it had on her body and the increased efficiency she found with her massage work. Retiring from massage therapy in 2016 she continues to use her manual therapy skills in her Pilates sessions to improve outcomes for her clients.

Carrie completed her Diploma in Professional Pilates with Polestar Pilates in 2010. She believes in continued education and attends many courses to expand her knowledge in the world of health and wellness. Carrie has completed specialised courses in Pre/Post Natal, Osteoporosis – Buff Bones®, Craniosacral Therapy and Oov training.

Carrie loves to teach studio Pilates to private and duet clients with a focus on rehabilitation and sports performance but she also loves the energy of a group class! She brings her own unique personality and creativity to every session and has an eagle eye for technique and the subtleties of alignment.

The essence of Buddhism is - no self no problem. N The essence of Buddhism is - no self no problem. No centralised entity that life is happening to.This is a difficult concept to grasp when we live in a fast-paced society where more is more and everything that happens is happening to us.Sometimes that is the case, shit happens to us, but it’s the story we replay over and over again that makes us exhausted and trapped in the prison of our minds. The left hemisphere of the brain is constantly creating narratives to interpret reality which leads us to become identified with the stories of the mind. This is part of building our identity and the mask the world sees. Life unfolds with its passing experiences which causes us to grasp onto whatever may make us feel better in the moment. But, what happens when we remove the mask and take a step back to become the observer of our minds? The curious bystander that’s one step removed from the anxiety loop. This practice allows us to create space between ourselves and the emotions that arise, turning the intensity of those experiences into something more manageable, even humorous at times. This shift in perspective is at the heart of mindfulness practice, where the focus is on witnessing rather than identifying with our thoughts and feelings.I have recently been through something pretty shit that made me feel like I would never get out of the deep spiral of anxiety and depression I was in. Still, here I am with another door open and some fresh perspective due to actually making myself sit down and practice mindfulness. It wasn’t easy and it was very messy.I recently let my mindfulness practice slide when I felt like everything was going well—I even referred to my life as "ideal" a couple of months ago. The important lesson I learned is that, even when life seems stable, you never know when the rug will be pulled out from underneath you. When that happens, it’s crucial to be prepared. For me, that means maintaining my mindfulness practice, regardless of whether life is good, bad or messy.Rest in the comments...#mindfulness #mindfulnessinmotion #mindful #thepilatesescape #pilatesprettybeach
