About

For nearly three decades, Melissa has immersed herself in the world of Pilates, embarking on her teaching journey in 1999. Her career has been a rich tapestry of teaching, coaching, and educating, as well as managing both business operations and staff. She was the proud owner of MG Pilates in Erskineville, Sydney, a thriving studio, for over eight years until she moved to the Central Coast in 2013 seeking a serene lifestyle for her and her family.

Holding two Pilates certifications from the Australian Pilates Method Association and a comprehensive diploma in Pilates Instruction from Polestar Pilates Australia, Melissa stands out as a highly qualified professional. Recognized for her expertise, she was invited to become a mentor and later an assistant educator for Polestar Pilates students, further solidifying her role as an influential figure in the Pilates community.

Melissa’s impact reaches far beyond her Pilates classes; she has generously shared her knowledge of mindfulness with both educators and leaders within the childcare industry, conducting webinars and holding workshops across Australia in partnership with Farran Street Education. Additionally, she conducts mindfulness workshops tailored for corporate offsites and offers in-house coaching programs. Her venture into mindfulness, inspired by the mindful movement of Pilates, has propelled her to gain certification as a life coach and body-mind practitioner with a focus on stress reduction techniques. Melissa is celebrated for her flexible approach, her deep listening skills, and her innate ability to understand others on a profound level. She forges significant relationships with her clients, leading them towards managing stress and finding inner tranquillity through her rich knowledge and commitment to ongoing education. Her mission is to empower individuals to find serenity and resilience amidst the complexities of life.

The essence of Buddhism is - no self no problem. N The essence of Buddhism is - no self no problem. No centralised entity that life is happening to.This is a difficult concept to grasp when we live in a fast-paced society where more is more and everything that happens is happening to us.Sometimes that is the case, shit happens to us, but it’s the story we replay over and over again that makes us exhausted and trapped in the prison of our minds. The left hemisphere of the brain is constantly creating narratives to interpret reality which leads us to become identified with the stories of the mind. This is part of building our identity and the mask the world sees. Life unfolds with its passing experiences which causes us to grasp onto whatever may make us feel better in the moment. But, what happens when we remove the mask and take a step back to become the observer of our minds? The curious bystander that’s one step removed from the anxiety loop. This practice allows us to create space between ourselves and the emotions that arise, turning the intensity of those experiences into something more manageable, even humorous at times. This shift in perspective is at the heart of mindfulness practice, where the focus is on witnessing rather than identifying with our thoughts and feelings.I have recently been through something pretty shit that made me feel like I would never get out of the deep spiral of anxiety and depression I was in. Still, here I am with another door open and some fresh perspective due to actually making myself sit down and practice mindfulness. It wasn’t easy and it was very messy.I recently let my mindfulness practice slide when I felt like everything was going well—I even referred to my life as "ideal" a couple of months ago. The important lesson I learned is that, even when life seems stable, you never know when the rug will be pulled out from underneath you. When that happens, it’s crucial to be prepared. For me, that means maintaining my mindfulness practice, regardless of whether life is good, bad or messy.Rest in the comments...#mindfulness #mindfulnessinmotion #mindful #thepilatesescape #pilatesprettybeach
